Performance

A different scale of solar productivity

SolarPWRD is designed to improve the amount of energy produced, the time over which it is available and the range of surfaces that can participate.

Headline performance

The numbers that reshape the system

These metrics describe the current SolarPWRD technology specifications and the conventional silicon benchmarks used for comparison.

60–65%conversion efficiencyCompared with 12–18% for the stated silicon benchmark.

5×carbon creditsCompared with silicon-based panels under the stated methodology.

Perovskite and silicon PV

Technology comparison

The difference is not limited to module efficiency. It affects productive hours, surface area, temperature performance, degradation, manufacturing and system economics.

Decision metricSolarPWRD perovskiteConventional silicon PV benchmark
Conversion efficiency60–65%12–18%
Usable light responseBroad-spectrum captureNarrower usable spectral response
Maximum-production windowUp to 12 hours per dayApproximately 6 hours per day
Area for 3,000 kWh per year3.8 m²16 m²
Temperature-related efficiency loss0.001% per °C0.5% per °C
Annual efficiency degradation0.01%More than 0.5%

Useful operating life40 years10–15 years
Indicative manufacturing costBelow US$0.20 per wattMarket and product dependent

Performance in a finished product depends on configuration, active area, encapsulation, substrate, controls, operating environment and test conditions. Conventional silicon also responds to visible and near-infrared light; the SolarPWRD advantage is broader usable spectral capture, not an ultraviolet-only silicon response.

Why performance changes design

The advantage extends beyond the active material

When an energy surface produces more power, occupies less area and performs additional functions, the entire system can be reconsidered.

Less land and structure

Higher output density can reduce area, mounting, cabling and construction requirements.

Energy when it is needed

A longer production period and embedded storage can support electricity beyond daylight generation.

Lower system complexity

Generation, storage, thermal management and illumination can replace separate components in suitable designs.

Circular performance

Designed for a longer and more recyclable energy life cycle

A 40-year useful life, low annual degradation and near-total recyclability improve the environmental value of each unit of manufacturing input.

Greater output from a smaller footprint also changes the relationship between energy production, land use and the built environment.

Near-total recyclabilityMaterials are designed to return to productive use at end of life.
Five times the carbon creditsA stronger carbon benefit than the stated silicon comparison.
One-year energy paybackFaster recovery of the energy used in manufacturing.
